| Introduction | My hands have been constructing cool things from wood since the late 1990s. From decks to sculpture, kitchen cabinets to barn doors. My education comes from both the act of making and from the companies I’ve had the good fortune of working for. Cold Mountain Builders in mid coast Maine and P+T Millworks in Bainbridge Ohio. Previous to all that I gained a great deal of aesthetic education from the art schools of Miami University and Kent State where I received my BFA. Plus absorbing centuries of art and architectural culture while hitchhiking and working in Western Europe, England and Ireland for a year. What continues to compel me in this work is when the aspects of use, craft and art come together and give the work a life of its own. Whether that be in a humble barn door or deck or a fine piece of furniture or sculpture. |
