| Introduction | Ciao! My name is Laurel. I am an ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) teacher. I enjoy designing and implementing outreach programs for the foreign-born students and their families to help integrate them into our community. I have served on the Maryland TESOL (Teachers of Speakers of Other Languages) as the Elementary Chair member. I also served on FIRN’s Board of Directors from September of 2009 to July 2013. |
| Interests | My hobbies are spending time with my family, butterfly gardening, cooking, history, art, music, and traveling. I enjoy keeping a travel journal and writing about my experiences. To me, it is important to build communities and bridges of cultural awareness. The world keeps getting smaller. And as a result, the need for global understanding is more important today than ever before. |
