Introduction Minoru Morita is a renowned political commentator who has written dozens of books on Japanese politics. He is also the founder of the Morita Research Institute. He was born on October 23, 1932, in Ito, Shizuoka Prefecture. He served briefly in the military during his middle school years at the end of World War II. Morita graduated from the University of Tokyo. He worked as director of publishing company Nippon Hyoron-sha in the 1960s before becoming a political analyst in the 1970s. Morita eventually became a fixture on Japanese TV. However, after he began criticizing Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi in 2005, his TV appearances dried up. Some media watchers say Morita may also have been punished for his outspoken criticism of Dentsu Inc., Japan's advertising behemoth. But Morita could not be silenced. He gives about 300 lectures a year across Japan, typically to packed houses. He also runs a popular website and is a favorite of the foreign press in Japan. His first English book, Curing Japan's America Addiction, was published by Chin Music Press in 2008.
