Introduction | I have worked in various parts of the mental health field for over 18 years. My practice is in downtown Portland Oregon. I use a warm, humorous, common-sense, eclectic approach based on the particular problems my clients present. My clinical orientation includes a holistic approach, focusing on my client's unique individual strengths to build self-reliance and confidence in a safe, supportive environment. Some clients come to me simply to get "unstuck". Other clients are unhappy with long-term patterns of self-defeating behaviors that require more long-term treatment. For short-term work I have used cognitive behavioral therapy, hypnotherapy and solution-focused therapy. For longer-term problems I use a Psychodynamic, Object Relations approach. I am recognized by the State of Oregon as a Licensed Professional Counselor (#C1663) and as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (# T0408). I'm also a Certified Employee Assistance Professional. I am a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and the Employee Assistance Professional Association. Visit my website at www.jacobspilman.com |
