| Introduction | I'm the biggest fan of my wife of almost 15 years, Sheila, and my happy and adventurous 10-year-old son, Neil. I'm a communication professor at Drexel University, where I teach journalism and media studies courses. I'm also an author, most recently of "More: The Vanishing of Scale in an Over-the-Top Nation" (Baylor U Press), which is the catalyst for this blog. |
| Interests | I play the drums pretty well, I'm a true beginner at the guitar, and I really enjoy talking sports, media, or politics - sometimes all at once. I'm a novice poet and like thinking I could someday get a job doing cartoon voices. |
| Favorite movies | Dave, Smokey and the Bandit (I know - eeesh), My Favorite Year, Bull Durham |
| Favorite music | What you young folks call "classic rock" - the Beatles, Chicago, the Eagles, Springsteen. I also have a strange fascination with 1970's pop - from "The Night Chicago Died" to "Saturday Night." |
| Favorite books | Fahrenheit 451, 1984, The Human Stain, Catch-22. |
What's the earliest you've gotten up to watch cartoons and what did you see?
It's been a while, but probably 5:30 a.m. to make sure I caught the Daffy Duck cartoon featuring the line, "Ho-ha-guard-turn-perry-dodge-spin-ha-thrust!!"
