| Introduction | My earlier years lived on two continents: born in Greece, raised in Africa, and finally set roots in the US, specifically in the Boston area and in the Berkshires. A friend from my early and teen years in Africa heard my voice on the phone recently after over 40 years and exclaimed, "You sound so American!" People who meet me in the US, ask whether I'm from the UK. While I am an American citizen, I am nourished by my Greek spiritual and cultural roots, shaped by British schooling, and animated by the sense of "place" found in the Berkshires. Over the course of my life -- as disjointed as it sometimes felt, moving from one continent to another--I have been blessed with a loving family and inspiring and generous friendships. |
