GenderFemale
OccupationNurse Midwife
LocationMakalondi
IntroductionI grew up in Congo since my parents were missionaries there. I loved growing up in the jungle and that is where God touched my heart to give my life as a missionary nurse. After nursing school in Atlanta, Georgia, I met my husband Gary and we settled in Tennessee. We raised our 3 boys in 3 cities of Tennessee (Chattanooga, Memphis, and Nashville) and worked with youth groups in our churches. Then God called us to go back to Africa and in 1988 we arrived in Niger. For a number of years we worked at a school for missionary kids in the city of Niamey, and our sons attended Sahel Academy and ICA in Bouake, Cote d'Ivoire. But our journey continued and 15 years ago, God changed our ministry location to a little village on the border of Niger and Burkina Faso. There we work among the Gourma people in evangelism, church planting, theological training, youth work, and medical work. We consider it a privilege and a joy to be in God's service in Makalondi, Niger!

Favorite moviesPhantom of the Opera, Return to Me, Ladyhawk, Braveheart, and Apollo 13. On a lighter note, our family just loves "What About Bob" and "Groundhog Day"!
Favorite musicChrist Church Choir - They're songs are so majestic and full of Worship. Selah - Great music, and of course I'm partial to them since they are Congo MK's too and even sing some songs in Kituba, Kikongo, and Lingala. Andrea Bocelli, Josh Grobin, Sarah Brightman, and Charlotte Church are also favorites!
Favorite booksSheldon Vanauken: A Severe Mercy An excellent story of deep romance and the couple's search for God. Gary and I love his writing style and we especially enjoyed the letters included from C.S. Lewis. This is a Must-Own book! Richard Wurmbrand: In God's Underground This book will challenge your committment to Christ in the face of difficult circumstances! Very interesting story of Richard's years in Prison and God's sustaining strength and grace! A true Hero of the faith! John Eldredge: The Journey of Desire This is a great companion read to "Heaven" by Randy Alcorn. If you liked "The Sacred Romance" by this author, you'll like this one too. I want to live in Longing... The Insanity of God, by Nik Ripkin- a must read!, Undaunted, by Christine Caine - also challenging
