Introduction My name is Pantelis Melissinos . I graduated from Parsons School of Design ( ’85 BFA Illustration / ’87 MFA Painting ). I’m a painter, poet, playwright, set & costume designer, composer and 3rd generation sandal maker. My grandfather Georgios Melissinos set up shop in the Monastiraki area of Athens, in 1920. My father Stavros Melissinos took over in 1954 and among our clientele we count the likes of Sophia Loren, Jackie Kennedy, Onassis, The Beatles, Lily Tomlin, The Queen of Spain, Bob Saget and many other famous people. In my store you can see my art work, you can seat in my art chairs and have custom made sandals hand crafted by me. The sandals can be painted and signed by special order. I’ve been featured in the New York Times, Daily Candy (as the god of sandals), Calgary Herald, Vogue Magazine, Matt Barrett’s Athens Survival Guide etc. My Bacchus comedy can be found in many libraries around the world and has beed hailed by critics as one of the best modern Greek comedies. Besides painting I've studied music (piano) and during my MFA years I used to write plays for my colleagues at Parsons.
