Introduction I have designed and made cloth toys for over 35 years, beginning when my oldest child was two years old. When I began, the toys were for someone of his age, and over the years, as my older two children grew into adults, some of the designs grew with the children, working just as well with adults as with children. All my toys are comforting to touch and hold. People term them "comfort toys", "centering toys", "soothing toys", which qualities might be helped by my Quaker habit of holding the eventual recipient in the Light while I work. Some of my toys unconsciously echo the fifties which were part of my childhood, others are quite different in design and in feel from anything else my customers and I have ever seen. I have a passion for cloth - the feel of different fabrics - the softness of velour, the bumpy warmth of corduroy. . . I have a passion for color - the richness of orange, the depth of blue, the hooray of yellow. . . I have a passion for combining them - their patterns, their textures, their contrasts, their harmonies. And I love making things that bring people comfort and joy.
