| Introduction | Purely Gangster Radio is a nonprofit organization from Southern California that was founded in March of 2008. The organization, that was originally started to help promote unsigned band friends, runs most of its functions via their Myspace page. The Ghetto Blaster Podcast is hosted by Alyssa Karalnick who introduces herself as Dj Saint and features music of all different genres that the organization refers to as “indie, unsigned, and awesome”. All music is collected with permission from each artist and the podcast itself is produced and edited from the comfort of Alyssa’s home. Many of the podcasts feature local band music, but consist of a lot of international music as well. Purely Gangster Radio also interviews bands and clothing companies. They recently ended an interview series they began in October of 2008 called “20 Questions with …” in which they had had the pleasure of interviewing Jenny of the band Blameshift who played in Warped Tour 2008 as well as Jonathan Cook of Forever The Sickest Kid’s clothing company Love Everyone. |
