| Introduction | I belong to an ethnic minority group of India and have been working as a senior correspondent for the last 6-years, covering a low intensity conflict affected area of Kashmir in North India. I’ve covered various socio-economic issues besides several features relating to impact of violence on youth, drug abuse and mental health in Kashmir. As Kashmir problem is more a political than anything my greatest interest has been in the area of politics. I have thoroughly covered various Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) between India and Pakistan on Kashmir, which included trans LoC bus service between Srinagar and Muzzaferabad in 2005. During 6-year long reporting career in a politically volatile province of Kashmir, my interest has accentuated in the domain of politics. I’ve reported one Parliamentary election, one Assembly election and several bye-elections, which helped me to gain an understanding of local politics. I’ve participated as a media specialist in Muslim Leaders of Tomorrow and have successfully attained the membership of the network. I was also nominated as a Panos fellow for Media Workshop on Information Communication and technology (Sept 2008) |
