About me

Introduction http://www.velvetotterhound.etsy.com I specialize in vintage jewelry and found item re-creation mixing the old and the new into wearable, fun, pieces. It's a bit of recycling with a blingy twist! Someone recently called them 'vintage glam'... I like that. My favorite item in my shop right now is my PB&J necklace. I saw the rhinestone brooch with the initials P&B and the first thing that came to mind was Peanut Butter and Jelly. So I set out to find a good representation of 'jelly' and ended up with a really fun piece! http://www.etsy.com/listing/44745646/peanut-butter-and-jelly-rhinestone I was born in SF and my grandmother had tons of fabulous jewelry and clothes from the 40s and 50s and some of the older, Edwardian and Victorian items from her mother etc. I was hooked! We then moved up to Clearlake and there weren't many jewelry stores so I started pilfering church thrift shops and recreating those pieces. That started many years of early morning flea market and garage sale ventures with a strong cup of coffee. I am now married to a painter and many of my friends are artists of various types so I have a constant flow of inspiration.
