| Interests | There was a time when the first word I would have used to describe myself was "poet." My work was published in "Poetry," "Chicago Review," "Shenandoah," "Songs for Our Voices: Award-Winning Poetry on the Jewish Experience," and "Lifecycles: Jewish Women on Biblical Themes in Contemporary Life." Eventually, other words began to describe me, as well: "mother," and "teacher" and "communications director," and poetry receded to make room for those roles. Then last year, with my youngest going off to college, I began--more as a discipline than anything else--to write about the weekly Torah portion, or parasha. These poems are the result. |
