| Introduction | At the age of 5, David knew what he wanted to be: a bum. He was destined to roam the earth, looking for greater truth and the occasional cold beer. But then life on the mean streets of elementary school beat him down; his classmates ridiculed his dreams and his teachers bemoaned a “wasted” education. By the time he was 9, he had resigned himself to one day becoming a corporate lawyer, tied to a desk, and forced to stare at a computer screen all day long. Twenty years later, that’s exactly how things turned out… Yet after years of toiling as just another cog in the machine, David was saved. Sometime in July 2010 (historians disagree on the actual date), he was visited by a vision of his 5-year-old self. But this was no joyous occasion: 5-year-old David was beyond pissed that 29-year-old David had sold out his childhood dream of being a bum for a “career.” After a heated, profanity-laced tirade by 5-year-old David, 29-year-old David realized the error of his ways. He quit his job, moved out of his apartment, and even cancelled his mail. The yoke of civilized life was removed. David is now, indisputably, a bum.
