Introduction In January 2010, I was diagnosed with colon cancer. After major surgery in February, and subsequent testing, results showed the cancer had spread to my lymph nodes--which put me at a stage 3. Six weeks later I began a 24 week chemotherapy treatment plan, which ended in in the fall of 2010. On July 2, 2011, I completed a 250km foot race in the Gobi desert of China. The event was self supporting, meaning I carried all of my own supplies in a 20lb backpack. Aside from raising money for an amazing foundation called TRAILS Youth Initiatives, part of my rational for doing this race was to show people that adversity doesn't build character; it reveals it. I plan to continue to use running and adventure to raise money and awareness for charity, and to try and make a difference in the lives of others. I'm seeking sponsorship from companies, organizations, and individuals who, like me, want to make a difference in the world.
