Introduction I've never really felt like I've fit in, like in the wrong place, at the wrong time, or in the wrong body, or my brain or emotions just weren't mine. I've sufferent from mental illness since I was 10 or so, and on Halloween had one of the most severe OD attempts I've ever had. I hope to explore my quests for sanity and meaning here, and maybe help someone down a more comfortable path than my own.
Interests I am a Buddhist. I am a hippie. I am an anachronism: I like to think I would've fit in in medieval or renaissance England, or in ancient Greece, or in the Roaring 20's, because so much of the time I'm acutely aware I don't fit in here and now. I act my shoe size not my age. I prefer sunflowers to roses. I prefer the mountains to a bar. I love the dirt and am known to play in it still. Rain means go outside and frolic, not hide inside. After, I work my feet and toes into the mud- I love that feeling. I am a wife and a mother of two, and being these are the best jobs I could possibly imagine having. I try to write, but too frequently my muse wins the wrestling match, slipping from my grasp to escape, only to stand and taunt me just out of reach.
Favorite Movies I like Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Horror (especially asian and ghost stories). My favorites include Silk (the Japanese sci-fi), The Orphanage, Dragonfly, Kung Fu Hustle, The Fall, Repo! The Genetic Opera, and more, although if I had to pick one, right now I'd say "Ink" (check it out on Hulu, it's awesome).
Favorite Music I like Modest Mouse, Florence and the Machines, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the White Stripes, Ok Go, and many of the bands of the late 60's/early 70's.
Favorite Books I devour books, mostly fantasy, but a lot of spiritual/self help lately. Right now, I'm reading Amazonia by James Rollins, The Blood Knight by Greg Keyes and a couple of books on Buddhism.
