| Introduction | I’m a freelance artist and I currently work from his studio which is located in East Vancouver, BC, Canada. As an artist I aim to create awareness and educate others in an attempt to cultivate empathy, regarding the difficult challenges people with mental Illnesses face and must endure on a day to day basis. Personally, I find creating art has this way of helping me externalize, process, and maintain control over my feelings. I have a vague narrative lying dormant beneath the trap door of my consciousness. The most effective way to investigate my internal feelings and reactions to this illness is the basis of my own art-based research. I use my personal and ardent artwork to help me understand my sense of self, my emotions, thoughts, and feelings associated with having the diagnosis of bipolar disorder. |
