| Introduction | Born in Sydney, Australia, Dylan Demarchi’s obsession with photography started in the mid eighties. At the age of 7 he had acquired his great grandmother’s camera and started taking family photos, by the time he was in his teens, his mother’s outhouse was converted into a darkroom. During his twenties Dylan threw himself into the commercial photography world of high fashion, working in London, Milan, New York, and Sydney. He was at the epicentre of commercial photography, contributing to editorial and advertising campaigns working alongside many of the worlds best photographers and most prestigious publications. Upon returning to Australia after 7+ years abroad Dylan lay his camera to rest for some time delving into other areas of artistic development exploring elements of sculpture, oil painting, screen printing and design through which arose the techniques now applied to his current body of works. Demarchi’s work highlights the inherent beauty in the subtle details and the softer, more reflective side of life. |
