| Introduction | My name is Cherry Harbin and I am a sixth-grade teacher in a small rural school on the west coast of Newfoundland. Our school is nestled in a spectacular setting. We are adjacent to a fast-paced mountain stream which flows into the aptly named Bay of Islands and in the shadow of the Blomidon Mountains, an extension of the Appalachian and Long Range Mountain chains. There is no doubt, our learning extends beyond the four walls of our classrooms! I have been teaching for eighteen years and I have always strived to be a learner along with my students. I enjoy my job so much and work every day with amazing colleagues! Anyone who knows me would say I have a passion for teaching. There’s no denying the satisfaction I have experienced since I became a teacher. The challenges have been many but all worth it when I know I have made a difference in the lives of the students I have taught and continue to teach! |
