Introduction	I have lived in Austin my whole life. I am happily married with two great kids. I am taking this class as part of my associate's degree in Real Estate. At the same time I feel I really need the dose of knowledge. I have always had an interest in history and how things from the past have effected the way things are in the present and future. I am excited to learn more about Texas and how our government is set up and ran. The 2008 presidential election was my first time voting. If I was to be completely honest, I would have to say I voted more for a historic election than for real issues that I truly knew and understood. I don't want to be in the dark anymore. I would like this class to shed more light on things that every citizen should be aware of to be able to make educated decisions.
