| Introduction | Jen and Daniel are just a couple of nerds living the good life in rural Wisconsin. In 2005 we moved from the bustling metropolis of Milwaukee to the rural township of Wayne. Wayne is the type of town that if you blink, you miss it. “Downtown Wayne” has one bar, one church, a daycare center and some dairy cows. Our town hall is a pole building next to the town dump. Its where you go to get the latest news on what’s goin’ on. Wayne is a blend of old-school farmers and “city folk” like us who moved to the country. We’re surrounded by wonderful neighbors who welcomed us and have taught me a lot! Living here is like wearing the most comfortable pair of slippers you’ve ever owned. I love it here. We continue to work in Information Technology and in turn straddle the space between high-tech and low-tech. I’ll sometimes spend the morning discussing software design solutions and the afternoon shoveling chicken poo. Seeing a chicken develop from a fuzzy chick to a sassy laying hen sometimes makes the worries of technology seem silly. But then a hen isn’t much help with calculating user-interface rules, either. Thankfully the world has a need for both. |
