| Introduction | I am older than I want to be. I've loved reading since I was four years old when my mother told me I'd make up what a book was about as I turned the pages. Still it didn't occur to me that I wanted to write. My neice (same age as I am) told me she wanted to be a writer when she grew up. I envied her as if I couldn't do it too. I didn't discover my ability until seventh or eighth grade when my English teacher made us keep journals for that year. At eighteen, I wrote two full length novels and then destroyed them because an editor rejected my short story I'd submitted. I didn't write again for many years. But now I'm back and hopefully less sensitive. I'm divorced and raising my two sons. |
