Introduction MamaKu is a forty-something mother of three with two jobs and one husband. She appreciates the symmetry of this, even if she is chronically sleep-deprived. Mama also shares her Southern California home with five chickens, four fish, several frogs, an aging Golden Retriever and Spare, a burly black rescue cat named for the tire in which he was found. MamaKu's husband does not like cats, but he likes Spare and even lets him sleep with us ... sometimes. Mama knows exercise is good for her and is currently trying to convince her boss that accompanying a client on a hike or to a yoga class counts as a business meeting. That strategy has met with mixed success, so Mama often does isometrics in her cubicle. A prolific writer by nature, Mama became interested in Haiku because of its distillation of ideas and occurrences into a most basic form. Some of Mama's posts speak for themselves (she thinks); others require some explanation, which Mama is always happy to provide. Of course, Mama welcomes your comments and questions ... and even Haiku! ... too. Thanks for reading, be well, and please enjoy LifeKu.

The smell.
