Introduction I teach computer science at a small liberal-arts college in upstate New York. Interests include programming language semantics, abstract interpretation, concurrency theory, and logic. Backpacker, distance runner, avid reader, classical and fingerstyle guitarist, singer, fine art photographer. Heroes include Bach, Debussy, Leo Brouwer, Messiaen, Tavener, Celtic and Balkan musicians, Pierre Bensusan, Kierkegaard, David Brower, Dorothy Day, John Muir, Mother Jones, MLK, Sr. Diana Ortiz, Eliot Porter, Ansel Adams, and my mom & dad. Environmentalist, feminist sympathizer, death penalty opponent, and general anti-imperialist. Would like to learn piano, smallpipes, painting, and woodworking, write (good) music, hike the PCT, and see the Arctic again.
Interests static analysis and functional programming, logic, stories, art, classical guitar, traditional Celtic music, landscape photography, long distance running, Basin and Range/the Cascades/the Arctic/the Rockies/the Mojave/northeast North America and traveling the wild lands therein.
Favorite Music I have nearly 3000 CDs and LPs, spanning hardcore and heavy metal, classic rock, 80s New Wave, classic and gypsy jazz, classical compositions from every time period and every major instrumental combination, fingerstyle and classical guitar, modern folk, bluegrass, celtic, old-time, pre-war blues, music from every region of Africa, and the Middle East. I'm not sure how I'd pick a favorite from that.
