Introduction | This site is intended to document the history of the old American Association baseball league which existed in the midwest from 1902-1952. It included the Columbus Senators which became the Red Birds in 1931, the Indianapolis Indians, and the Kansas City Blues, as well as the Louisville Colonels, Milwaukee Brewers, Minneapolis Millers, St. Paul Saints and Toledo Mud Hens. The Almanac has been published on paper since 2001 and maintains a small subscriber base comprised of baseball history fans and public institutions. Favorite movies | Birdman of Alcatraz, It's a Wonderful Life (anything with Jimmy Stewart), To Kill a Mockingbird, Cider House Rules, Eight Men Out. Also love most things with Burt Lancaster and Gregory Peck, not to mention Gary Cooper, Olivia DeHavilland and Greer Garson. Love the old stuff, black & white Film Noir, Alfred Hitchcock, Sherlock Holmes, other dramas. |
Favorite music | Combo Jazz/Bebop: Coltrane, Miles Davis, Lee Morgan, the 60s heavyweights. Was totally into classical for much of my life, Beethoven piano sonatas are still a favorite, but I listen to more jazz than anything these days. I collect vintage bluegrass LPs. |
