IntroductionI am 48 years old and I was diagnosed with Gastroparesis since 2008. It was discovered after I donated my kidney to my best-friend in September 2007. Apparently my vagus nerve and other organs were damaged during the harvesting of my kidney during the surgery. Gastroparesis basically means that my stomach is paralyzed. It is not able to process food once it enters my stomach or intestines. Therefore it sits there causing extreme pain, bloating, nausea and vomiting. I have tried many forms of treatments including medications, feeding tubes and several surgeries. Nothing has "cured" me. That is because there is no cure. I have been treated at some of the nations best hospitals, including The Cleveland Clinic. Currently, I have a chest port for hydration and IV medications. I have a G-Tube I use for venting my stomach to help with bloating and to help avoid vomiting. I use the J-Tube for tube feedings to supplement my nutrition. My hope with doing this blog is to help educate people with GP and to share God's message that even in the storm's of life, He will never leave you.
