Introduction I write about books and sell books under the name, Now Rise Books, a name inspired by the final line from Margaret Walker's poem, "For My People," in which the speaker calls out: "let a race of men now rise and take control." In this space, i transform my love of books into an activist stance, believeing that what is known as Black literature, (serious Black literature), when read and absorbed, can help to uplift Black people so that we overcome the debilitating impact of the hostile racial attitudes aimed at us day to day. Liberated from social brainwashing leaves room for us to affirm daily our God-given sensibility to know and honor God, to know ourselves as God's creation, and to treat others as we want to be treated.
