| Introduction | I am known by different name to different group of people in contact with me. In the family I am known by pet name of “DI-AN”. Nephews and nieces address me “WAQ” (the title for the eldest son in the family from time immemorial) and their children call me “TOKWAQ”. My kids chose to call me “DAD” and I am “ATUK” to my grandchildren. My young buddies at my former work place find it convenient to address me “TOKCIK” and subsequently the others, hence the title of this blog. Classmates and schoolmates dubbed me “PAKYAT”. Friends at surau and neighbours just call me “HAJI”. In my heyday in broadcasting over Radio and TV I was simply “AMRAN HAMID”. Whats in a name! I take them in my stride. |
