| Introduction | Amarce is the name of the six-year old brother of Alexa and Liana (at least that is the name Alexa has given him) who still lives in Arbegonea of the Sidama region of Ethiopia. It is his story that has inspired the creation of this charity. As part of the adoption process, some families are able to visit the homes of the families of which their adopted children were a part of. On Kathy and Jim's visit, Jim sat right next to Alexa and Liana's brother. As with a lot of the kids they saw, the expression on Amarce's face was hard to explain, but even more hard to forget. As the visit ended, Amarce began to cry and it was hard not to think that while his sisters were going to a whole new life in America, their brother would be here the rest of his life, eating substandard food, working to pass the time of his days and living for survival. Just thinking of Amarce and kids like him all over the world, and how they live every day just makes us want to do something to help these people experience a little of the hope that we have the opportunity to live with every day! |
