| Introduction | In 1990, I was diagnosed with a retinal condition that would deteriorate over time and cause low vision. I have been treated with argon laser, photodynamic therapy (Visudyne), and Avastin. In 2001, my condition was identified as Presumed Ocular Histoplasmosis Syndrome (POHS), until then my condition had been idiopathic and possibly PIC. My current vision is 20/60 and there is neither guarantee nor signs of improvement. I now get quarterly injections of Avastin to hopefully prevent new blood vessels growth. This is my journey and experience living with vision loss and the unknown future. |
| Interests | Tutoring math and science, advocating for the disabled (especially vision impaired population), tandem cycling, reading (audio books), stamping cards, and hanging out with my family and friends. |
