About me

Introduction My name is Zach Swaim and I've worked in the Bay of Fundy since 2005 as a research assistant and graduate student (UNCW) at the Grand Manan Whale and Seabird Research Station on Grand Manan Island, NB, Canada. I first became interested in studying right whales during my first field season at GMWSRS. Shortly after, I started a masters program at UNCW studying lipid metabolism in right whales. In 2009, I worked with the NEAq as a right whale aerial observer in Fernandina Beach, Florida, however, this is my first field season working with the NEAq in the Bay. Its always exciting to get back to the Bay in anticipation of the animals we're going to see so check in regularly and be sure to comment on our entries.
