| Introduction | I am passionate about learning and education. Currently, I am very interested in the latest brain research on how we learn and what motivates students to be successful. Having a growth mindset is a particular dynamic concept that I like to incorporate into my teaching. So often students have a strong opinion about their success (or lack of) as a math student, and I believe nurturing a growth mindset will serve students well. Watch a quick TEDtalk on it here. |
| Interests | I love being active and spending time outdoors: biking, hiking, fishing, yoga, and gardening are just a few of my interests. I look forward to backpacking trips in the summertime, both nearby in the Cascades and further away in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. I also enjoy baking and making new things from scratch--jams, pie fillings, breads and muffins. |
