| Introduction | Hi! I’m Shiela Mae G. Montaño, a high school mathematics teacher and doctoral student in Curriculum & Instruction. I teach Mathematics (Algebra 2 and College Prep Algebra) in the Buckeye Union High School District in Arizona, and I previously taught math for 14 years in the Philippines. My work is grounded in my passion for meaningful learning, technology integration, and helping students see the real-world value of mathematics. This blog highlights my journey as a Filipina educator, sharing reflections, instructional strategies, research insights, and creative teaching ideas. It also serves as a space to document my growth in my Ed.D. program and my commitment to leading innovative, student-centered learning. Outside of teaching, I enjoy hiking, traveling, freediving, mermaiding, and learning new languages. These experiences inspire my approach to education and my belief in lifelong learning. Professional Goal: To empower teachers and students through technology-enhanced instruction, global collaboration, and research-based practice. |
