| Introduction | I’m a writer who loves to cook – or maybe a cook who loves to write. I spent 20 years on Wall Street and another 10 as a corporate communications consultant, writing brochures and speeches and newsletters before I discovered how much more fun it was to write personal essays. Now that’s pretty much all I write. My essays have been published in The New York Times, Family Circle, Ladies’ Home Journal, Skirt! Magazine, and The Vanderbilt Alumni Magazine. My credentials in the world of food are more word of mouth. Some of my friends call me the Kitchen Goddess, and I’ve been told you could sell tickets to my annual Soup Party. Three years ago, my husband retired and we moved from New Jersey to a new house in Austin, the center of which is a kitchen designed by the Kitchen Goddess herself, with its own tiny garden where I am slowly adjusting to the Texas growing season. |
