| Introduction | Sapphire Unbound explores the lived realities of Black women. We will challenge the invisibility of Black women in policy and politics. Why? To uncover and challenge hegemonic and normalizing structures of power in political societies. I am a complex human being who cares deeply about people. As an activist-scholar I have long challenged our understanding of public policy (what I deem to be the "new" civil rights movement) in terms of how it relies on cultural images to often ignore some people that are deemed unworthy. I am the author of the award winning book "Black Women, Cultural Images and Social Policy". I have a Ph.D. in Political Science and a MA and BA in Economics.
