| Introduction | After retiring from my third career I had a sort of existential awakening. I was 58 years old in good health and still wanting to contribute but did not want to begin yet another "job" or career. A deep interest was growing inside me to understand more about the aging process and the opportunity for continued human development in the second half. To answer this question for myself I began a journey of personal inquiry and later networking with experts in gerontology and spiritual and human psychological development. I currently am a part-time adjuct instructor Marylhurst University teaching a Creative Aging course in the Gerontology Program. I also teach courses focusing on the inner work of the second half through the Life By Design NW program here in Portland, Oregon. In addition, I coach individuals and couples who are interested in making their second half more dynamic, fulfilling, and purposeful. My personal mission is to inspire people to move beyond what they have already created in their lives to be more in service to their community and the following generations. |
