| Introduction | I've been birding all my life. Most of the time I did so in the Netherlands. In 2008 I moved to Bergen, Norway, together with my wife Anne and cat Abdullah (RIP 2015). I still live in Bergen with my wife and daughter Robin. In the Netherlands I was a keen twitcher and member of the national rarities commitee (CDNA). I've published papers about the occurrence of rare birds in the Netherlands (and elsewhere). In Norway I gave up fanatic twitching. I now concentrate on local birding, sound recording and the birds of the western Palearctic. Besides that I am fond of bird identification, taxonomy and (the philosophy of) bird vagrancy. |
