| Introduction | I have been a Royal Ranger Commander since 1988 when my son, at age 8, introduced me to this ministry. It has been a major part of my life ever since. It is a ministry that I love. It is part of what helps to keep me grounded and makes it possible for me to give back to other men and boys.
Part of Royal Rangers is the Frontiersman's Camping Fellowship. Here I'm known as Crazy Rabbit. (All FCFers take on indian type names.) FCF is a special part of Rangers where boys, becoming men, see and interact with other men. Men who are positive role models. Men of character. Men without pretense. True Men of God. Men teaching boys to become Men of God. And all this happens in the most unexpected of settings. Usually, in the woods somewhere camping. Where financial position and social status are invisible and irrelevant. It happens while teaching a boy to tie a knot, start a fire, cook a meal, or just sitting around a campfire discussing things that are important to a boy. It happens while building relationships. It is this ministry; the FCF and Royal Rangers that have helped to mold me; Cmdr. Bob, Crazy Rabbit, Bob Yon into who I truly am at heart. |
