Introduction David is a medical doctor, a graduate of Yale and the University of Rochester. He has been interested in exploring languages and cultures for as long as he can remember. A trip to Beijing in 2014 stimulated an interest in Mandarin and the opportunity to travel to China to teach in Xi’an is a dream come true. In addition to medicine and Mandarin, he is also an avid amateur cellist and hopes to connect with other musicians while in Xi’an. Wendy has worked in higher education for 30 years. She was born in Seattle and grew up in upstate New York. While pursuing her doctorate, she taught English and writing at the University of Rochester and Eastman School of Music. She then spent 15 years at Coe College in Iowa, where she served as Chair of the English Department. Since then, she served as Dean of Students at New College, a small honors college in Florida, Marshall College at UC-San Diego, and VP for Student LIfe at Cal Western School of Law She has published scholarly articles and book chapters in The Pre-Raphaelite Journal and En Travesti: Opera and Gender Subversions.
