| Introduction | Hello. I am 41, and I’ve been a single mother of my daughter since I was 24. It was right after I graduated from college that I became pregnant: unexpected and unplanned, but welcomed and embraced. I was unsure of what to do with my life back then, but once my daughter was coming, it was a relief to just have to be a mother. And now that my daughter is beginning to look at colleges herself, I am faced again with finding myself. Life is funny. It will put you right back to the starting point of something that you did not master the first time. I have raised a child, began businesses, created a home, built a community around us, and yet, thinking about my next chapter outside of motherhood petrifies me So no free rides. No displacing the focus. The task ahead of me is to meet this challenge. Which is namely: to create my life- happily. And so this is my process -of helping my daughter prepare for her dreams, while I figure out what are mine. Thank you for reading and participating with me. |
