Introduction I grew up as an (mostly) only child in Washington state and spent most of my time in the dirt, making things, reading, or playing video games. Lupus kicked my butt when I was 28 and I lost my job in Boston. I had meant to start my own business anyway, and had just started dabbling in painting, so at the time it seemed fortuitous. Of course, I didn't know it was Lupus or that my health would never really fully recover. As I experimented with art as self-expression I tried out many mediums (acrylic, oils, watercolor, clay, fabric, paper) and loved them each for their own unique qualities. Still, Lupus has urged me to move toward ease and simplicity, and I've always loved books and paper and thread... so it was a natural shift to move into bookbinding. Books are a sacred space, and I love providing the blank pages for folks to give voice to their dreams.
