Gender Female
Location Providence, Rhode Island, United States
Introduction In 1988, I became executive director of the Women’s Center of Rhode Island. Part of my job was to examine the agency’s successes and failures in our mission to protect victims of domestic violence. Adversarial litigation at court subjected traumatized families to new forms of abuse. Judges' orders led to our most tragic failures. I left the Women's Center in 1996 and started the Parenting Project as a volunteer effort to research and publicize the ways government can endanger vulnerable children and families. Our goal is to educate the public and help government provide reliable protections from abuse. If you believe I have made any errors, I welcome corrections, documents, and further information.
