Introduction The 24 Hour Art Marathon is our major summer outreach event with artists creating work during 24 hours ending in silent and live auctions. This event enables artists to gain professional development in the community and experience interacting with the public and promoting their work, be it visual art, music, performance, dance, poetry etc. Artists and amateurs create art during 24 Hours. This includes painting, drawing, print, ceramic, metal work, textile, fashion, jewelry, stained glass, sculpture, photography, sound works, and interventions. These works or their remnants are then auctioned off with 50% proceeds returning to the artists, through both a silent and live auction. A silent auction will take place on the Sunday following the 24 Hours of art making, at the gallery and once again a Live Auction will take place the following Thursday evening with a professional auctioneer and host.
Favorite Movies The majority of the downtown local businesses and over 100 artists (visual and other) as well as youth organizations and other non-profit organizations support and participate in the event. This year we intend to expand on our garage movie theatre from last year, screening films and videos from Canada and abroad.
Favorite Books Numerous workshops for children take place and child friendly activities, as well as spoken word, poetry readings, music, dance and performance art. This annual event renders accessible young and more established artists' creative process to the public.
