| Introduction | The summer of 2002, the summer before my senior year at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, something strange happened to me. God, by leading me into a commitment to read from the scriptures and pray daily for the first time, broke into my life in a new and intimate way. At the end of that summer I accepted my call to live as a committed Christian, and over the next few years, while working in special education and volunteering in youth ministry in Richmond, Virginia, I began to accept my calling to leadership in the Church. I served as the Director of Youth Ministries at Good Shepherd UMC in Richmond for two years before moving to Texas to attend seminary at Perkins School of Theology, SMU. While at Perkins I served in youth ministry at Highland Park UMC and (much more importantly!) married a wonderful woman named Amy. Amy and I feel very fortunate to be a part of Hamilton Mill UMC, a church where both God and people are clearly at work. |
