The phrase "cargo cult" has been overloaded with a new meaning that everyone implicitly understands. This meaning is entirely divorced from the historical cargo cults. This is where you and I agree. Where I disagree is in the need to abandon this well established term just because of of it's ancestral roots (which are irrelevant to programming).
