When it comes to asynchronous processors, it's probably worth mentioning the Amulet research Lab at Manchester University; which as well as implementing a number of asynchronous ARM processors (Amulet 1, Amulet 2); pioneered asynchronous Hardware Design Languages, such as Balsa.
I was privileged enough to be part of the Amulet research group over the period 1996 to 1998.
