A little out of your wheelhouse, but it would be nice if someone could give an overview, in this kind of style, of the present state of the smart-card ecosystem. I worked in that space in the late 1990s and hold a patent for a points-based stored-value system. We must think that all of the art of that time, crafted to work around underpowered hardware, has today been completely superseded.
