Thank you for the very interesting article. You mention that segment overrides are implemented using logic rather than microcode. My question is related to this: one of the "quirks" of the x86 architecture is that the LODSB/LODSW instruction accepts segment override prefixes, but the STOSB/STOSW instruction does not. Do you have an explanation for this?
