Back in 1976 I worked for a contractor in the basement at NASA Headquarters on the DC mall where I was a systems programmer on a Model 50 running OS/MVT. We launched payroll and radio frequency inventories, not speceships. I forget the details but we even had TSO with dialup modems (110 baud?) connected to TTY terminals. If I was a Soviet aganet I could probably have loaded spyware into the "link pack area" but I was a loyal American. Although I maintained the OS, sometimes working Sunday nites with probably nobody else in htt building escept maybe a nite watchman, I did not have security clearance. When they ran the progran for radio frequencies (I have no idea what it actuslly did) they cleared mamory and rebooted the machine. It was known among us contractors that our 2nd line manager had an open bottle whickey in his desk but that was not a problem: the first line manager kept on top of things. I seem to recall that the GS-15 who was in charge of us was mainly interested in a restaurant he owned somwehere. Times and computers have changed. No more Sunday nite work to get machine time, but I got PTSD from undocumented apis like Angular and Django.
