Top notch article as always, I hope it will motivate more hobbyists to play with microcode - it is not just for CPUs but complex and fast application specific processors can be implemented (e.g. GPU drawing routines). For one of my projects I wrote 2 microcoded custom processors, one to write to memory by consuming Intel HEX ASCII stream, and the other vice versa.
